Coffee Roasting Workshop
Join a small group session exploring how coffee roasting shapes flavour.
A huge part of why coffee tastes the way it does is because of how it's roasted. In this hands-on workshop we'll slow down and explore what actually happens when green coffee meets heat – And how roasters guide that process to bring out sweetness, acidity and balance.
Working out of the roaster, we'll look at the fundamentals of roasting and taste how different roast levels change the character of the same coffee.
During the session you'll:
- Roast your own batch of coffee and take a bag home.
- Taste one coffee roasted three different ways.
- Learn how small adjustments in time and temperature affect flavour.
Along the way there will be plenty of time to ask questions, compare notes and explore coffee together.
What you'll learn:
- What actually happens inside the bean during roasting
- How roasters develop sweetness, acidity and body
- How roast level interacts with origin and processing
- Why roasters choose to roast light-medium-dark
